My courses have always been quite interactive and convivial, and many people buy them as gifts for themselves or loved ones as I make sure the experience is more than just learning about keeping bees; a far cry from the draughty village hall, lukewarm tea you can stand a spoon in, and digestive biscuits. I’ve not been confident about transferring this aspect over to the potentially rather charmless online experience, but with the new lockdown measures in the UK as well as the pressing need to address the lack of connection with the natural world has given me a new-found incentive to put my courses online.
The format will be the same as my in-house course: suitable for complete beginners as well as those who may have been keeping bees conventionally and want to investigate a different approach. I will limit numbers so we can discuss questions that arise and talk about specific situations. I will email out notes beforehand, and I have a presentation that I can share which gives a good grounding in the basics without the need to disturb the bees. As I can’t provide cake, I will send out a recipe for the cake I will be baking so that you can join me in enjoying a slice during the break if you so wish. The content will still be about honey bees and how to keep them effectively on a small scale with a holistic approach rather than focussing just on honey production, so is perfect for those wanting to find out a bit more about how a bee colony operates and gain a greater understanding of the challenges our bees face so we can see what we can do to help them, or for anyone who has always been curious about what goes on inside a hive.
The Zoom course will run on a Saturday afternoon (see dates below) from 2-4pm, and I will email you the link to the meeting beforehand with the notes, and a cake recipe. The price is £30 for the session and you can purchase directly below, or at a later date: the address to make payment will be in the email, and I will need to receive payment by 12noon on the day of the course. Please book via email in advance as numbers, as I mentioned, are limited. My Patrons on the highest tier will be able to hop on as part of their subscription, and patrons on lower tiers at reduced rates.
