Omlet Freestyle Cat Tree Review

My black cat, Sausage, is a housecat, so when I moved to my much smaller property, I wanted to get him something that utilised the vertical space and would give him somewhere to go to get away from my dog, and my dog’s friends. I am a great fan of Omlet (a review of another product to follow…) so decided to invest in the Cat Tower.

It is fantastic. I bought a platform, a hammock and a den, and they are made from bamboo and really sturdy. I also got the sisal scratching post kit which is a diy addition and a really cool idea. I had a few problems initially with the pole spinning round as I have really thick (new) carpet and an artex ceiling so it’s tricky to get real purchase. The video was really comprehensive though and I redid it a few times just to make sure I was getting it right. I have to tighten the bottom bolt periodically but there is a little spanner in the kit which I keep near it so I can make sure it stays tight. The quality of the materials used is superb; I got the grey felted option, and the pads are well cushioned. The platforms are quite heavy so it takes two people to adjust them – more because if you drop the Allen keys you might find yourself in a bit of a tricky position!

Sausage loves the hammock most of all, and I’ve positioned it so it’s nearest the window and gets the sun. The den is right at the top and facing away from the door so if he needs a hidey-hole he has one, although he still prefers under the bed for complete security.

I’ve strung a couple of his little toys (one from Omlet) through the holes in the platforms and he really likes rolling around with them.

All in all I am really pleased with my purchase, and it is well worth the money. I’ve arranged my artwork around the platforms, which I am actually rather enjoying!
