Regardless of what is happening with us humans, the bees are getting on with their lives and for those of you who want to get started, it is never too late! I am limiting the course numbers to a maximum of 4 people from up to 2 households, so that we can adhere to social distancing, plus there will be the required sanitising/hand-washing facilities, but do please contact me at if you would like any advice in the meantime.

I can offer one-to-one consultancy via Skype, Zoom or phone if you would like specific information on beekeeping or poultry keeping at a rate of £40 per hour. I have a Beekeeping in a Box option if you would like to learn about sustainable beekeeping in the comfort of your own home; you can read about it here.

I also have a vlog giving an overview of the comings and goings at Wayward Bee – see The Shawpits Diaries tab here on my website for all the episodes.

Spring, Summer, and Autumn workshops will now be run through my Patreon (see below).

My courses are suitable for people who would like to keep bees, or are already keeping them. I also run a mentoring service for people who would prefer to have help and advice at their home regarding their bees, and I have a Patreon account for those further afield who would like ongoing advice and tuition:

My Gardening for Bees & Wildlife course is for both beekeepers and those wanting to make their garden or outdoor space as bee-friendly as possible. Please see drop-down menu for more details and topics covered.

All courses are held at my farm cottage in rural East Sussex – do get in touch for detailed directions.

3 Shawpits Cottages, Mill Lane, Hellingly, East Sussex BN27 4HD

My contact numbers are 01323 842253 or 07803 744368.

You can email me at or see my Facebook page where you can also message me.

My courses are also available through (search “Wayward Bee”) where gift vouchers are available, and you can read reviews.

Courses are very popular as presents: if you would like a bespoke course for an individual, a couple, or a group of up to 5 people from the same household, please email me at the above address to discuss. I bake a cake of your choosing and we can run the course on a day and at a time to suit you. Below is flyer for the event for you to print off and give to the recipient, but let me know if you’d like a bespoke voucher.

Courses are £60 per person, or £100 for two booking at the same time. You can pay here on the website via PayPal, or please email me at to pay by bank transfer, or to make other arrangements.

Please see the drop-down menus for details on the different courses I offer. All run on Saturday afternoons from 2-4pm. The dates are as follows:
